Awana in Space! If the space shuttle launches today as scheduled, Awana will achieve a milestone - the first known Meritorious Award recipient in space. Army Colonel Doug Wheelock, a mission specialist on the space shuttle Discovery flight STS-120 which launched Oct. 23rd and is scheduled to return on Nov. 6th, earned his Meritorious Award at West Windsor Baptist Church in Windsor, New York. Colonel Wheelock reportedly maintains a strong Christian testimony among his peers in the space program. [Read bio...] . |
