Matching Challenge for the Kids of East Africa

In response to a situation in East Africa where children are being deliberately converted to Islam through the offer of free education (centered on the Koran), a dedicated friend of Awana has offered a challenge grant to help Awana present the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We hope, with gifts from friends like you, to completely meet this match challenge of $97,861 by December 31, 2009. Your partnership with Awana tells me that you care deeply about the hearts and lives of children. Please, don't miss this opportunity to make twice the impact with your gift to Awana this month. Please make an eternal difference in the lives of the children in East Africa. [Read More...]

Two Ways To Benefit Your Awana Missionary:

Non-Cash Assets - Many people consider cars, boats, timeshares, jewelry, business inventory, real estate, and other non-cash type gifts to help us reach boys and girls, and their families too, for Christ. An estimated 90% of America's wealth is in non-cash assets, yet the vast majority of churches and ministries receive less than 10% of their gifts from these assets. Why? Because they're not equipped to accept non-cash gifts. Through our foundation we can accept them, and we will work with you to develop the best giving strategy for you and your family. If done properly, givers can avoid or reduce taxes and maximize giving. Simply visit CreativeGivingSolutions.com's Awana section to learn more. On that page, select the Donation Button and choose the U.S. Missionary Fund. Under the Brief Description type the Missionary's name or account number.

Your IRA - If you are over age 70 1/2, you may annually gift any amount up to $100,000 of your IRA to your Awana Missionary. It's very easy to make the gift by directing your custodian to transfer a portion of your required minimum distribution directly to Awana. For more information simply visit AwanaFE.org.

Our children and youth are ill-equipped for spiritual and moral challenges today – and for leading the home, church and community tomorrow. In fact, many will leave their faith behind after high school. Awana offers a solution. We are calling and equipping parents and churches to work together to raise kids who know, love and serve Christ. Inspired by the life of Joseph from the Old Testament, whose trust in God and character carried him through trials and temptations. [Read more...]

Awana in Space! If the space shuttle launches today as scheduled, Awana will achieve a milestone - the first known Meritorious Award recipient in space. Army Colonel Doug Wheelock, a mission specialist on the space shuttle Discovery flight STS-120 which launched Oct. 23rd and is scheduled to return on Nov. 6th, earned his Meritorious Award at West Windsor Baptist Church in Windsor, New York. Colonel Wheelock reportedly maintains a strong Christian testimony among his peers in the space program. [Read bio...] .

Help Break the Cycle - Five thousand inmates of the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola have left 20,000 children behind. The children are left without the love and leadership of father figures. Our great challenge is breaking the cycle of crime. The truth is that children of an incarcerated parent are seven times more likely than their peers to end up in prison themselves. You can play a part in breaking this cycle of crime. The Returning Hearts Celebration is scheduled for September 8, 2007 and is a day of games... [Read more...]
