Awana in Space! If the space shuttle launches today as scheduled, Awana will achieve a milestone - the first known Meritorious Award recipient in space. Army Colonel Doug Wheelock, a mission specialist on the space shuttle Discovery flight STS-120 which launched Oct. 23rd and is scheduled to return on Nov. 6th, earned his Meritorious Award at West Windsor Baptist Church in Windsor, New York. Colonel Wheelock reportedly maintains a strong Christian testimony among his peers in the space program. [Read bio...] .


Revised Truth & Training Books have arrived! Big news!! Awana Clubs International has made some significant changes to the first two Truth & Training handbooks with both Book One and Book Two available for ordering now. Book Three will be revised NEXT YEAR (Fall 2008) and Book Four will be revised the following year (Fall 2009). The revised Truth & Training handbooks now have more of a 3-level approach (similar to the 24/7 Ministries Come See, Come Follow, and Come Serve levels) to aid leaders in ministry to kids of different backgrounds and abilities. Help Break the Cycle - Five thousand inmates of the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola have left 20,000 children behind. The children are left without the love and leadership of father figures. Our great challenge is breaking the cycle of crime. The truth is that children of an incarcerated parent are seven times more likely than their peers to end up in prison themselves. Cents for the Sipes' Fuel Project 2007 - The Sipes' are always on the road as they visit with Pastors, Commanders and Awana leaders throughout Mississippi & West Tennessee, traveling up to 3,000 miles per month.
